What is My First Book Club?

My First Book Club is a monthly service that delivers three age-appropriate books to your doorstep in the first week of every month. We put the same high level of quality and care into curating our book boxes as the authors put into writing these internationally acclaimed titles.

How do I sign up?

How does the pricing work?

We have a unique pricing model where we can offer a lower price the longer you subscribe for.
Of course, life happens and sometimes you might have to cancel or pause your subscription. No problem! When you sign up for a multi-month plan, you don’t have to worry about the long-term commitment – if you pause or cancel, you will only pay for the months you received a box. If you decide to cancel at any time, just let us know, and we will refund your money for the remaining term of your subscription.

Monthly Subscription: R 475 per month
3-month Subscription - Upfront Payment: R 1380 every 3 months (Save 3%)
6-month Subscription - Upfront Payment: R 2700 every 6 months (Save 5%)

What subscription options are available?

Our book club subscriptions are either month-to-month, three-monthly, or six-monthly. You can choose to change, pause, upgrade, or cancel your subscription through your account at any time. Your subscription will be rebilled each month, every three months or every six months depending on which subscription you select. You can also change your preferences by logging into your account or emailing us at support@myfirstbookclub.co.za. Please make any changes before the 10th of the month to ensure a successful change.

How does shipping work?

Our book boxes are shipped in the first week of each month. When your box ships, we will email you a tracking number so you can follow your box until it is delivered to your door. Shipping may take 3 to 7 days. Shipping to all major cities in South Africa is free.

I didn’t receive my box / my package was damaged

Of course, we are only human, and sometimes mistakes happen! If you’ve missed a package, received a damaged package, or an incorrect item in your box, just let us know, and we will send you a replacement, free of charge.

I don’t want to buy a subscription, can i buy a book box once off?

Absolutely, you will see a seperate section on our shop page where we have many different options to choose from for once off purchases.

Can I purchase a subscription as a gift?

Yes please, share the gift of reading with any special child in your life. Check out the next FAQ to learn more about purchasing multiple subscriptions or gifts.

Can I purchase multiple subscriptions and gifts?

Yes & No. What do we mean?

You can only purchase 1 subscription at a time per child for security and management reasons. You can manage all your subscriptions from your one account.

However, you can purchase as many once-off gift boxes or vouchers with your one subscription transaction if you wish.

Can I choose what books are included in my gift box?

Whether you are subscribing to our club or purchasing a once off gift box, the books have been specially curated by our book specialist team which take into consideration the childs age, theme or category of the gift box and the best seller list. Our aim is to take the stress of picking the perfect book off your shoulders.
